
Playing Career
Marcel Pronovost was a standout on the Detroit Red Wing's defense for over
fourteen years, and he earned his first of four consecutive All-Star berths
in 1950-51.
During a game in Montreal in 1961, Pronovost attempted to check a Canadien
player but instead hit Gordie Howe, breaking Gordie's shoulder.
At the end of the 1964-65 season, Marcel was part of an eight player deal
that brought him to Toronto. Andy Bathgate was one of the Leaf players who
went to Detroit.
During his career which began in 1950-51, Marcel played in 1,206 games
scoring 88 goals while assisting on 257 for a total of 345 points. He also
played in 134 play-off games scoring 8 goals and assisting on 23 for 31 points.
As of May 02, 1997 as noted in the Toronto Star "Where are they now ... the 1966-67 Maple Leafs", Marcel Pronovost is a scout in Windsor for the New Jersey Devils.
