Selected to 2 All-Star Teams
For his size, Dave Keon was a skillful player and a very effective checker
and an outstanding penalty killer. Some may even feel that Keon may have
been the best penalty killer of his time, as well as a top power play specialist.
Keon came straight out of St. Michael's College in Toronto and impressed the
fans immediately. He was the Leaf's captain from 1969 to 1975.
In his second year he scored 26 goals for the Leafs while taking only one two
minute penalty, and as a result won his first Lady Byng Trophy, as well as
being named to the League All-Star's second team.
During his career in which he played 1296 games, he scored 396 goals and had
590 assists for a total of 986 points. During his 92 play-off games he scored
