Playing Career
Teamed up with Tim Horton, they were almost unbeatable. Their separate styles,
Horton a rusher, and Stanley who stayed back on defence, would work to their
advantage.
Imlach used Stanley in pressure situations which included penalty killing
and taking face-offs in the defensive zone.
In the 1959-60 season Allan Stanley lead all N. H. L. defensemen with ten
goals.
During the early 1960's Stanley formed part of the "big four" for the Leafs
defence, which included Tim Horton, Bob Baun and Carl Brewer.
As of May 02, 1997 as noted in the Toronto Star "Where are they now ... the 1966-67 Maple Leafs", Allan Stanley is retired in Bobcaygeon, Ontario after owning a resort.
